Daniel Gorman, Certified Marine Surveyor
Daniel is the Principal Surveyor at Pacific Marine Surveyors and a Certified Marine Surveyor (CMS) with the National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS). He graduated from the California Maritime Academy with a degree in Marine Engineering and holds a U.S. Coast Guard 3rd Assistant Engineer Unlimited license. Following his graduation, Daniel sailed commercially under his license, gaining extensive hands-on experience at sea.

Boating and surveying have been lifelong pursuits for Daniel. He grew up sailing and working on boats, and from a young age spent summers assisting his father, Rick, with marine surveys whenever he wasn’t on the water or, later, working aboard ship. In 2015, Daniel transitioned to a shoreside career and has been surveying full-time ever since. He has logged more than 50,000 ocean miles and over 20,000 sailing miles, including multiple Transpac and Mexico races.

Daniel completed the Chapman School of Seamanship Marine Surveying Program, graduating at the top of his class with honors. He is also an active member of the following organizations:

Rick Gorman, Accredited Marine Surveyor

Rick Gorman, our senior Surveyor, is an active member of SAMS (Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors). Rick takes pride in meeting their high ethical standards and exceeding their rigorous continuing education requirements. He is certified by the ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) attesting to his knowledge of their exhaustive technical and professional standards for boats.
Rick has performed over 2,000 marine surveys and damage investigations throughout Los Angeles and Orange County. His renowned knowledge and experience in the field has led to him being a leader in the surveying industry.
Rick has also sailed more than 20,000 ocean miles and navigated most conditions safely with no damage. This hands-on long distance sailing experience allows Rick to use the gear and systems on the yachts first-hand. This rare combination of experience and passion for boats is an invaluable asset in assessing vessels, marine equipment and making recommendations.

He is a graduate of the renowned Chapman School of Seamanship, Marine Surveyor Program. He is a member of American Boat and Yacht Council and the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors® with Accredited Marine Surveyor® status. He has a natural understanding of the forces which act on a vessel's hull and structure and knows how to find hidden flaws which sometimes go unnoticed, but may cause serious problems if not discovered in time Most buyers are not experienced enough, or mechanically inclined to a point where they can make an adequate evaluation on their own.

Evan Wanamaker
Evan joined the Pacific Marine Surveyors family in 2020 after working in the commercial shipping industry for 10 years. He is a graduate of the California Maritime Academy class of 2011 and majored in Marine Transportation. He holds a 3rd Mate Unlimited tonnage USCG license, as well as a 1600 Ton Captains license with an unlimited towing endorsement. He spent most of his sea-going career on offshore and ship assist tugs working for Crowley Maritime. His passion for boating started from a young age and continues to be on the water with his family, taking their boat to Catalina Island as well as local sailing and racing whenever they can.
